Office of Theology and Worship correspondence files (1953-1970) contain correpondence of Paul C. Empie in his capactiy as National Lutheran Council (NLC) Executive Director (1948-1966) and as U.S.A. National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (USANC) General Secretary (1967- 1972, 1974-1975). Correspondents include Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Department of Theology Directors Vilmos Vajta and Ivar Asheim. General files (1953-1966), dating from the time of NLC operation, concern theological conferences, theological scholarship exchanges, and financial contributions to the LWF-Department of Theology. General files (1967-1968). Dating from the time of the USANC's establishment as a separate body, regard theological scholarship exchanges; specific study groups and consultations; promotion, distribution and production of study documents and reports; and financial contributions to the LWF's Department of Theology. Other correspondence includes discussion of arrangements for Ivar Asheim's U.S. study tour; conversation with Office of Theology and Worship Director Paul D.
